Primary School Websites, Built for Primary Schools
A primary school website does two jobs at once. It has to win over a family looking for a Reception place, and keep the families you already have informed. We have been building primary school websites in the UK for over 20 years. Warm, photo led sites your office team can update themselves, with everything you have to publish already built in.
Free support, ongoing training, and a design refresh every three years.

What primary schools tell us about their old website
Primary schools very rarely have someone whose job is the website. It gets updated by the office manager between phone calls, or by a teacher at seven in the evening. Everything we do follows from that.
Nobody dares touch it
What schools tell usA system built for a marketing department, handed to a school office with one training session and a PDF manual.
How we workAn editor built for school staff, with training that carries on for as long as you are with us, not just a handover session at launch.
It wasn’t built for primaries
What schools tell usA general purpose template with a blog, where class pages, newsletters and letters home all have to be added as custom work.
How we workClass pages, newsletter archives, policy libraries with review reminders, term dates and galleries come as standard on every primary site.
The bill kept growing
What schools tell usA competitive quote at the start, then charges for new pages, template changes and anything that wasn’t in the original spec.
How we workOne annual price covering hosting, support, training, every feature and a design refresh every three years. Primary budgets have no room for surprises.
Primary school websites we have designed
Every one of these is a live primary school website we built. Have a look at the real thing rather than a mockup, and notice how different they are from each other. We design each site for the school, we don’t use templates.
All Saints Anfield
Strong colour and high quality photography do most of the work here. A primary school website doesn’t have to be pastel to feel welcoming. The photography carries the warmth, which lets the design be bold.
Crawley Green Infants
Clean, welcoming, and unmistakably an infant school. Soft curved shapes and the school’s own colours give it a friendly feel without any clutter, which matters when most of your visitors are on a phone.
Hebburn Lakes
Drone footage on the homepage against a soft colour palette. If you are competing for admissions locally, five seconds of video of your actual school and grounds does more than three paragraphs of prospectus copy.
Wigmore Primary School
Wigmore keep their site alive. They use their blog and class pages constantly, and we built the design to make regularly updated content look good rather than leave obvious gaps when nobody has posted.
Carr Hill Primary
Carr Hill trusted us to deliver exceptional results, even under tight deadlines. It is just one example of our ability to create beautiful, functional websites quickly and efficiently.
Updating it takes minutes, not a training day
The best looking primary school website in the country is no use if the news page still says Christmas Fair in April. So we build for the person doing the updating rather than the person approving the design.
Adding a newsletter, publishing a letter home, uploading photos from a trip or updating a class page all take a couple of clicks. You get a handover session to start with, and training carries on for as long as you are with us. When someone new joins the office we train them too.

The features primary schools ask us for
After 20 years of building primary school websites we have usually already built the thing you are about to ask for, and it comes with your subscription rather than a quote.
Class pages with their own blogs and galleries. Newsletter archives. Policy libraries that tell you when a policy is due for review. Term dates and calendars. Site wide alert banners for a snow closure. Staff and governor directories, parent letter archives and school meal menus. When we build something new for one primary school, every primary school on our platform gets it.

Compliant from the day it launches
Primary schools carry the same statutory publishing duties as much bigger secondaries, with a fraction of the admin time. Pupil premium strategy, PE and sport premium including your Year 6 swimming figures, the SEN information report, curriculum by year group, phonics and reading scheme, admissions, governance, equality objectives, financial benchmarking and KS2 results.
We give each of those a permanent, properly labelled home when we build the site, so you are never rebuilding the list the week before an inspection. You can read our full guide to school website compliance.

You can talk to the design team whenever you need to
Your website isn’t finished at launch. Schools change. A new head arrives, you rebrand, you join a trust, you get a new set of photography, or a section turns out to matter more than anyone expected.
You keep access to our design team for as long as you are with us, so you can ask for a second opinion on a page that isn’t working or a recommendation on how to present something. Every three years we refresh the design completely at no extra cost.

Still under contract somewhere else?
Plenty of the primary schools we work with came to us with a year still to run. It is easier to sort out than most schools expect.
We work back from your end date
Tell us when your current contract finishes and we build the schedule backwards from it, so the new site is ready to go live the day you are free.
All the work happens beforehand
Design, build and content migration can all be done while you are still with your current provider. Nothing goes live until you say so.
We move your content for you
Getting content out of an old system is the part schools dread. It is included in your price, and we tidy up the presentation as we move it.
Twenty years of working with schools
We have worked with Realsmart for over ten years and are currently working with the web development team to refresh all of our school websites. I could not recommend the team enough. They are friendly and approachable and at the same time very skilled and extremely professional with their work. Their customer service is exemplary and second to none and they completely understand the school sector and what is important to schools.
I found the team to be enormously patient in supporting me to achieve what we wanted with the sites, and highly responsive to queries, it seemed that nothing was too much trouble. It also felt like the team had a real appreciation for our budget constraints. I would highly recommend them as a partner.

Primary school website FAQs
What should a primary school website include?
Alongside the information you have to publish, families look for term dates, the school day, uniform, admissions, class pages, newsletters and letters home, and a clear way to contact the office. Parents choosing a school also want photography and video of the real place, which does far more than prospectus copy.
Can our office team update the website without help?
Yes, that is what we build for. Adding a newsletter, publishing a letter, uploading trip photos or updating a class page takes a couple of clicks, and training carries on for as long as you are with us, so if your office manager leaves we train their replacement.
Are your primary school websites DfE compliant?
Yes. We build the structure in from the start, covering pupil premium, PE and sport premium including Year 6 swimming figures, the SEN information report, curriculum by year group, phonics and reading scheme, admissions, governance, equality objectives, financial benchmarking and KS2 results. Each one gets a permanent home.
Can we have class pages and class blogs?
Yes, on every primary site as standard. Each class can have its own page with a blog, gallery and documents, and you control which staff can post to which class. A teacher can update their own page without being able to change the rest of the site.
How much does a primary school website cost?
Primary schools pay a single annual subscription covering design, build, hosting, support, training, every feature, all updates and a design refresh every three years. There are no separate charges for pages, templates, branding changes or support. Get in touch and we will give you the figure for your school without a sales process.
We are still under contract with another provider, can we start now?
Yes, and it is usually the sensible thing to do. Tell us when your contract ends and we will design, build and fill the new site while you are still with your current provider, ready to launch the day you are free. Nothing goes live until you say so.
Will our website work on phones?
Yes. Most of your traffic will be parents on a mobile looking for one specific thing at an awkward moment. Every site we build is designed for mobile first and tested across devices before it launches.
Can you move our existing content across?
Yes, and it is included. We move the content from your current site and improve how it is presented as we go rather than dropping it into a new template. Where something is clearly out of date we will tell you rather than move it.
